About the
program

Pursuing Bachelor of Arts in Performing Arts is an important step in preparation for a career in a specified field. Program provides preparation for careers in theatre, film or television. Courses may include theatre history and set design, but the main emphasis is training the student in the craft of acting. Classes in voice and speech are offered to develop better diction and intonation for clearer delivery of lines. Movement helps to release the creative spirit while examining body language and non-verbal communication. Scene study discusses approach and provides opportunity for exercising interpretation. Skills are further developed through school productions where experience is gained in auditioning and participating on stage and in film.

Much personal benefit can be realized through the study of acting. The program builds confidence, self-discipline and an ability to make a positive impression. Students also acquire skills and experience in working in groups and accepting criticism. There are numerous career options for work on stage and screen. Actors may audition for individual parts or provide minor supporting roles. Acting troupes employ regular casts for presentation of a variety of productions in many different venues. Speech skills can be used in voice-overs and narration. Graduates may choose jobs in set design, choreography or other related fields. A BA can be used as groundwork for more advanced degrees and a sharing of knowledge through teaching. Some programs offer the opportunity to prepare for a career as a comedian.

Program Objective

  • To develop quality and performance monitoring indicators for the institution and its constituent colleges.

Program Outcomes

  • Define and explain the contributions of the playwright, actor, director, designers, and technical theatre personnel.
  • Conduct a group warm up containing vocal, physical and mental exercises.
  • Prepare and present a number of well-polished performance assignments, including scenes with a partner and monologues.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the collaborative nature of the theatre arts.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of a broad range of theatre terminology.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how a theatrical production is “made”, and be able to critically evaluate the success of a theatrical production.

Program
Scope

The BA in Performing Arts course teaches students the fundamental skills of theatre and equips them with refinements that will help them succeed in other aspects of the profession. The BA in Performing Arts course also teaches students about cultural heritage and computer application. Students can choose a specific area of focus course, but all courses will build on one another and lead to career paths that are unique to their own skills and interests. Students interested in a career in acting may be best served by studying at a university where this field is embraced. They will be able to draw inspiration from different sources and gain a broad overview of the art form.

Internship

Internship is the best way to prepare and increase the chances in the job market. Acknowledging that there is intense competition, given the incredible number of talented people vying for each job, Student must somehow set themselves above the others.

A great combination is a college degree with one theatre-related internship, additional formal training or study, experience working in the field (such as working crew on a production, volunteering, teaching drama at a local arts Centre, etc.), enthusiasm along with a positive attitude, and perseverance.

A student concentrating in theatre and acting art should emerge from the experience more knowledgeable, confident, sensitive, and aware of the benefits of cooperating and sharing with others.

BA in Performing Arts degree holders can make their career in a wide range of fields such as Acting Colleges/ Universities, Film Industry, Street Plays etc.

Refund
Rules

  • 100% fees will be refunded if the admission is withdrawn within one month from the date of admissions taken or as per the applicability of the cancellation policy, Only INR 2000/- will be deducted as administrative charges. Application Form cost is non-refundable.
  • No fees with the refunded in case the student withdraws admission post one month of taking admission to the University.
  • Please note that a handwritten application letter stating the withdrawal has to be submitted to the Admissions Office along with the Original Fee receipt which is given to the student at the time admission OR the student can write an email to dypuadmission.refund@dypatil.edu.
  • Refund process will be initiated only after filling and submitting the completed No-dues form to the Centralized Admissions Office.
  • The amount will be credited to the beneficiary account within 15 to 20 working days.

 

Cancellation
Policy

Every candidate is entitled to a window period of 30 days in which full refund is applicable on cancellation. (INR 2,000/-) get deducted on account of admin charges.

For Undergraduate Admissions:

For students who secure provisional admission before the declaration of class XII results, their window period commences from the date of declaration of class XIIth result of their respective board.

For students who secure admission after the declaration of class XIIth result, their window period commences from the date of depositing the tuition fees.

PLEASE NOTE THAT IF THE LECTURES COMMENCE BEFORE THE EXPIRY OF THE WINDOW PERIOD NO REFUND WILL BE APPLICABLE.
