About the
Program

The B.Sc. (Hons) in Product Design is a future-oriented undergraduate program that prepares students to conceive, develop, and deliver innovative products and systems for real-world use. It approaches design as a process of problem-solving and innovation—integrating user insights, materials, technology, manufacturing processes, and market dynamics, supported by a strong research-led framework.

Structured as a full-time, studio-driven program, it emphasizes iterative making, testing, and refinement. Students engage in the complete product development cycle—from identifying user needs and generating concepts to prototyping, evaluation, and production across consumer, industrial, and emerging design domains.

The curriculum is structured around four foundational pillars—Arts & Crafts, Design, Manufacturability, and Entrepreneurship—and progresses through:

Arts & Crafts: Hands-on exploration, material behaviour, and form development

Design: Design thinking, systems approach, usability, and innovation

Manufacturability: Production methods, materials engineering, ergonomics, and sustainability

Entrepreneurship: Product strategy, market positioning, and business development

Integrated Practice: Prototyping, digital fabrication, simulation, industry projects, and internships

With a strong emphasis on craft-to-computation and research-driven inquiry, the program builds the ability to translate ideas into viable, scalable, and impactful product solutions. Graduates emerge equipped to design for usability, efficiency, sustainability, and evolving technological contexts.
