Mayank Suri
OVERVIEW

Mayank is a lawyer specializing in autonomous shipping operations. Dealing with socio-economic-ecological impact of laws is his favourite tangent of study. His research interest is supported by a keen curiosity for understanding etymological, philosophical, epistemological, and sociological underpinnings of different capitalist habits and society.
He has previously worked with law firms and practiced before various courts. When he is not teaching and writing, he consults for private clients as well as on multi-stakeholder projects. He has given guest lectures at various institutions and continues to welcome and engage with wider academia and industry. Mayank also remains deeply involved with the idea of sharing knowledge and participates in national and international conferences. Having worked in 3 countries and several cities, Mayank brings a wealth of practical knowledge to his classroom.
Mayank has been a recipient of Aboa Mare Award for Academic Performance 2024, Lex Falcon Emerging Legal Educator of the Year (Shipping/Maritime) 2024, OP JGU Research Excellence Award 2020, Faculty, and Swansea University International Excellence Scholarship 2016.
His recent conference appearances include 48th Annual Conference on Oceans Law & Policy, 7th International Conference on Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships, and 2023 Asian Law Schools Association (ALSA) Conference.
Additionally, he is developing a digital law repository on autonomous ships which can be found here: Law of Autonomous Ships. More on his research can be found here: Mayank Suri (0000-0003-0837-0252) – ORCID.
Mayank is an avid traveller, concert goer, bibliophile, coffee and cocktail aficionado.
