About the
Program
The D.Y. Patil Deemed to be University’s School of Creative Studies shall offer a Diploma in Filmmaking and Screen Production, a one-year programme that builds a working screen professional. The diploma covers the complete production chain, including development and screenwriting, pre-production and budgeting, direction, cinematography, production design, sound, editing, colour, and delivery for streaming, broadcast and social platforms.
Alongside craft, learners study how the screen business actually works, covering commissioning, OTT economics, rights, and how a production is financed and sold. Learners rotate through crew roles across multiple productions before specialising, so the choice of craft is made from experience rather than assumption.
The programme closes with three months on a live industry project inside DYP Interactives, the university’s in-house production studio, in the specialised role the learner is building a career in. Evening (weekday) and weekend batches allow working professionals and school students to attend, with batches commencing in September and October.

Program
Scope
The Diploma in Filmmaking and Screen Production prepares learners for craft and production roles across film, OTT, advertising, branded content and independent production. India’s screen sector continues to expand across streaming originals, regional production and branded long-form work, and studios recruit on the strength of credits and a specialised reel rather than on qualification alone.
Graduates are equipped for department roles in production houses, OTT content studios, advertising and agency production teams, post production facilities and independent units. The combination of craft depth and business literacy also positions graduates for line production, producing and entrepreneurial routes, and provides a foundation for degree-level study in film and media.

Internship and Live Industry Project
Industry engagement runs through the diploma rather than sitting at the end of it. Learners work on productions inside DYP Interactives from the first term, to studio schedules and studio standards, which means the working habits assessed by employers are formed during the programme rather than after it.
The final three months are a dedicated live industry project in which the learner occupies the specialised role they intend to build a career in. This produces a verifiable industry credit in the chosen craft, alongside the multiple crew credits accumulated across the year. Showreel and portfolio assistance is a graded deliverable, reviewed by faculty and industry professionals before release.
