- The aim of this course is comprehensive training of a pathologist (MD/DNB) in the various aspects and modalities of Hematopathology, including developing an aptitude for research.
- The fellow will assist the staff Pathologist in consultative interpretation of all hematopathology material accessioned in the lab
- Neuberg diagnostics and D Y Patil university envisage creating a one of its kind fellowship where academic and practical training will be imparted in niche areas such as hematopathology and Flow cytometry
- The candidates would be expected to conduct daily activities in lab (such as reporting actual cases with their respective consultants) as well as participate in academic activities, including mandatory paper publication.
- Both laboratories are state of the art and offer all available facilities for learning and training purposes. There would be no cost for infrastructure development.
Eligibility Criteria
MD/DNB Pathology with 1 year experience post pg.
Duration of Course
1 Year
Course Commences: January 2025
Course Completion Criteria:
- Internal Assessment Theory Examination – 100 marks
- Final University Practical Examination – 100 marks
- Minimum 1 Research Publication in international / national journal.
- Minimum 1 Poster/ Paper presentation in International / national conference.
Course
Syllabus
- Basic Haematology test reporting including CBC , Peripheral smear , Basic Coagulation assays and HPLC testing
- Hematolymphoid tumors, including bone marrow pathology & lymph node pathology
- Bone marrow aspirate and biopsy reporting
- Training in flow Cytometry – analysis for leukemia , lymphoma , myeloma
-CD34 analysis
-Benign flow assays including PNH, Platelet Antigen Assay, Lymphocyte subset assays
-Exposure to principles of Minimal residual assay reporting
-Exposure to integration of Fish, Cytogenetic and Molecular assay reporting along with routine bone marrow reporting
The fellow will be expected to participate in journal club presentations under guidance of the mentor. Research and publication of research papers would be highly encouraged and at least two publications are expected at the completion of the program
