Ph.D. Program
The Ph.D programmes emphasise interdisciplinary research, enabling scholars to engage with diverse areas such as journalism, advertising, public relations, digital media, fashion design, textile studies, apparel production, sustainability, film, animation, visual effects, gaming and immersive technologies.
By integrating academic research with creative practice, the programmes encourage scholars to explore both conceptual and applied dimensions of media, design and technology while addressing contemporary global trends.
The School of Creative Studies offers Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes across three specialised domains:
Media and Communication Studies
Fashion and Apparel Studies
Multimedia, Animation and VFX.

Eligibility
As per UGC guidelines, the eligibility criteria for admission to the PhD programme include:
- A Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field from a recognized university
- A minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in the qualifying examination
(Relaxation of 5% for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/differently-abled candidates) - Qualification in a national-level eligibility test such as UGC NET (including JRF) / CSIR NET / GATE or any other equivalent examination conducted by central agencies
- The University conducts the PhD Entrance Test (PET) twice a year
