Ph.D. Program
As part of the doctoral program in the department of information technology, research scholars understand and explore open problems and current research work happening in areas dealing with Information Technology. Students are enabled with the required background to pursue research in cutting-edge domains related to Information Technology.
Students who wish to continue studies after completion of their M Tech degree in Information Technology or Computer Science/Engineering can pursue Ph.D. degree.

Program
Our curriculum encourages a broad exploration of the design practice with an emphasis on user-centered approach and design thinking and beyond. We enable our students to develop critical, technical and managerial skills that align with the contemporary conversation within the industry also Entrepreneural thinking for self-development by aligning with thought leaders in the industry. The course is focused on process-driven work that examines all aspects of industrial design from conception to implementation. We equip our students with a wide-range of design skills and thought process that allow them to articulate their design ideas and thinking. Our exemplary infrastructure and workshops support model making and prototype building for different kinds of design briefs.
Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for a Ph.D. program at D Y Patil University, as per UGC guidelines, typically include:
- A Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field from a recognized university.
- A minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in the qualifying examination (relaxation of 5% for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/differently-abled candidates).
- Qualifying in a national-level eligibility test such as UGC NET (including JRF)/CSIR NET/GATE or any other equivalent examination conducted by central agencies.
- D Y Patil University Navi Mumbai is conducting the Ph.D. entrance examination twice a year.
Duration
As per UGC guidelines, the minimum and maximum duration for completion of a Ph.D. program are as follows:
Minimum duration: 3 years for full-time candidates and 4 years for part-time candidates.
Maximum duration: 6 years for full-time candidates and 7 years for part-time candidates. Extensions beyond the maximum period may be granted under certain exceptional circumstances, subject to university regulations.
