Programme
Objectives
The overall objective of this MPH programme is to train competent and skilled specialists who will aid in problem solving and critical thinking in the public health domain and effectively meet the public health needs of the country.
Students opting for the programme gain skills in the public health sciences that prepares them for careers in a variety of settings, including academia; local, national, or international public health agencies; industry; and non-profit foundations and research organisations.
Duration & Pedagogy
The programme commences in the first week of October every year. It is an 80 credits 24-month full time programme spread across 4 semesters. Pedagogy for each module has been meticulously planned with emphasis on experiential learning through interactive class discussions, internships, field assignments, and research projects. The school infrastructure has been thoughtfully designed to promote interaction and team work.
The school has forged meaningful collaborations with various national and international healthcare organizations, and other public health institutes to provide ample exposure to its students.
Students also have the unique opportunity to be part of various student driven activities. These include student clubs, professional development events, hackathons, field trips, observing health days, editing a quarterly newsletter, cultural and sports fest. These provide them a chance to explore new topics, showcase leadership skills, be culturally sensitive and gain new skills.
Curriculum
The first year comprises of courses that aim to develop student competencies in 10 core areas of public health. Following are the mandated core courses:

The second year includes advanced courses in the areas covered during the first year and elective courses. Students are expected to complete a minimum of two elective courses as per their area of interest. Additionally, they have to complete a capstone project and a practicum that involves a mentored hands-on training with experienced public health professionals.
edX courses
Another unique initiative that provides all students enrolled for the programme, access to the edX online portal that delivers a plethora of well curated courses offered by leading universities in the world. This aids in broadening their horizons as they are exposed to a global student community and learn from the perspectives shared by a larger group of experts from the field.

Integrated MPH – PhD options
The integrated MPH-PhD gives you the opportunity to extend your knowledge and skills in public health research through additional research methodology courses and/or an advanced research project and progress from a coursework master’s degree to enrollment in a PhD.

Specialisation options
Make the most of your studies by getting a specialisation in Epidemiology / Public Health Management/ Health Policy by incorporating additional coursework and credits during the two years tenure. Specialisation can enhance your career prospects in the chosen area of specialisation.

Industry relevant program
This program has been designed to be relevant to the workplace, with many opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge to practice. One such opportunity is our internship program, where you will gain practical experience in relevant public health organisations. We offer a range of internship placements across the country.
Eligibility Criteria
The course is open to candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree
from a recognized university in India or abroad as detailed
below:
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences / Professional degree in a health-related field
- Bachelor’s degree (Non-health Sciences) with provenexperience in a health-related field.The last round of applications will be taken in the 30th July
