About the
Program
M.Sc. in Defence and Strategic Studies as a subject demands a Specialized Audience that has Interest and Passion, which can extrapolate into various manifestations of National Security. The study is interdisciplinary in nature as the subject broadly covers military history, war, national security studies, international relations, peace and conflict studies, international terrorism, defence economics, military psychology/sociology and other aspects related to military or security of the nation and as such encompasses such aspects like Geopolitics and Military Geography, Science and Technology, The Economics of Defense, Conflict management and Conflict resolution, etc.
Defense and Strategic Studies is an Interdisciplinary Program that covers a variety of topics related to National Security, which also includes Military History, International Relations, and Economics.
The program is designed to help students to understand the Conflict, War, and Security through a variety of Methodological approaches from other fields.

Eligibility Criteria
- For National Students
A candidate for being eligible for admission to the M.Sc. Defence and Strategic Studies (M.Sc. DSS) degree course shall have passed Graduation in any stream or its equivalent and secured minimum 50% marks aggregate at first attempt (45% in case of reserved category).
Every candidate admitted to the degree course in the
Constituent/Affiliated college/Recognized institution, conducting the course, shall have to register himself/herself with the University.
- For International Students
The eligibility criterion for all programs for International applicants is minimum 50% in the qualifying examination and having studied the pre-requisite subjects for admission in to the desired program.

Program Highlights
- Students learn about classical & contemporary military strategies about Doctrines and the causes, conduct and consequences of war
- Students learn about key theories and concepts in International relations such as Realism, Liberalism and Constructivism.
- Students learn about National Security policy, Defense strategies and the role of Intelligence in Maintaining Security.
- Overall, learning about Emerging Technologies like Electronics, Computers, Material science and Bio Technology.
Scope of the Programe
- Students learn to Holistically frame complex strategic problems, develop viable and innovative solution, and communicate effectively to multiple audience.
- The subjects cover War, Military History, Peace and Conflict studies, and International Terrorism, Defense Economics and National Security studies.
Therefore, the course prepares the students for becoming a strategic thinker in defense forces, geopolitical risk analyst, research assistant, research fellow, defence journalist, PHD scholar and assistant professor.
