About the
Program
The B.Sc. Nursing degree program is a four-year full time program comprising eight semesters with credit system which prepares B.Sc. nursing graduates qualified to practice nursing and midwifery in a variety of settings in either public/government or private healthcare settings.
The program encompasses foundational, core and elective courses in the form of Modular learning. This program prepares nurses and midwives for generalist nursing including midwifery practice through a competency-based and outcome-based approach. Knowledge acquisition and mastery of competencies related to wellness, health promotion, illness, disease management and care of the dying is the core aspect of this programme. This is achieved through learning in a skill lab/simulated lab and clinical environment. Simulation will be integrated throughout the curriculum wherever feasible to enable them to develop competencies before entry into the real field of practice.
Eligibility Criteria
• The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years and there is no upper age limit for B. Sc. Nursing admission.
• Candidates should have passed the qualifying 12th Standard or equivalent examination (10+2) with a minimum of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together and passing marks / grade in English.
• For candidates belonging to SC / ST / OBC the marks obtained in 3 science subjects shall be 40% instead of 45% for General category candidates.
• Candidates from State Open Schools recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open Schools (NIOS) recognized by Central Government can also apply,
• For foreign nationals, the entry qualification equivalency of 12th standard will be determined by the University; based on guidelines of the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi or other applicable guidelines.
• Colour blind candidates are eligible provided that colour effective contact lens and spectacles are worn by such candidates.
• Candidate shall be medically fit.
• Candidates with locomotor disability of up to 40% of the lower extremity may be considered for admission.
• Married candidates are also eligible.
• Cut off date for admission to BSc Nursing programme is as per the apex body (INC) notification.
Selection of Eligible Candidates
a. Selection of candidates should be based on the merit in the entrance
examination. Entrance test** shall comprise of:
i.Aptitude for Nursing:20 marks
ii.Physics:20 marks
iii.Chemistry:20 marks
iv.Biology:20 marks
v.English:20 marks
b.Minimum qualifying marks for entrance test shall be 50%
Note:
**Entrance test shall be conducted by the University as per the notification displayed in the University website.
The start of the semester shall be 1st August every year.
Duration Of Course
The B.Sc. Nursing program is a four-year program comprising eight semesters. The Candidate shall undergo a period of study extending over four academic years including six months compulsory rotatory internship for Basic B. Sc. Nursing It will follow a credit-based semester system with choice for elective courses and modules as permitted by the Indian Nursing Council.
MAXIMUM PERIOD FOR COMPLETION OF THE PROGRAM:
The maximum period for completion of the B.Sc (Nursing) program is eight years.

International Collaboration
The International Collaboration Program provides an opportunity to both Indian and foreign learners in the field of Nursing for academic interactions and research. It has been envisaged to promote academic links among the nursing personnel in India and abroad.
We have initiated collaboration with University of Cuu Long (UGL), Vietnam; to plan and conduct various programs such as webinar, FDP, online competitions and much more in order to promote professional development of students and faculties.

The dynamic healthcare system needs competent nurses who are also excellent clinical leaders to deliver effective direct patient care in healthcare settings. In addition to instilling strong ethical values in the students in line with its mission; D. Y. Patil University School of Nursing is also conscious of the invaluable partnership it shares with stakeholders and the society at large, which enables us to produce effective clinical nurse leaders.
We are proud to announce that all the alumni of the School of Nursing have secured excellent placements with Public and Corporate healthcare organizations at the National and International levels. Placements have always been critical in recognizing students’ potential, and it is the goal of the entire DYPU community to raise the bar on placements year after year by instilling significant technical and nontechnical knowledge in students thereby preparing them to meet the ever-changing industry requirements.
