Department
Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology DY Patil Deemed to be University is one of the top-rated, premier institutions of the country, imparting quality engineering education. Since its inception in 1983, it has been growing in leaps and bounds. It has carved a niche for itself in the field of engineering education and is proud to have an intake of more than 900 students. The department of “Engineering Sciences” has been a part of RAIT, since its inception. The department plays a pivotal role in training the students who have just joined first year engineering and imparting quality teaching in trending branches of Engineering such as Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Machine Learning, Cyber Security, Computer Science and Business systems, computer and Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Telecommunication , Electronics & Instrumentation. Subjects like Engineering Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Mechanics, Basic Electrical and Electronics Engineering , Computer Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms etc are taught in first year engineering. Other than these, students are also imparted training in soft skills and communication skills to prepare them for future roles as leaders, managers and entrepreneurs. Value added courses like “Health & Wellness”, “Indian Cultural Studies”, “Sports and Yoga” have been incorporated in the curriculum to ensure an overall, holistic development of students.
The department houses highly qualified and experienced faculty who have been contributing immensely to the teaching and learning process. The faculty is totally dedicated to impart quality education through innovative teaching methodology. The faculty at the same time is also dedicating their sincere efforts in research and development by tying up with industry and doing innovative projects in their respective field of study. There are faculty mentors in the department who cater to the academic as well as psychological needs of students. Students have an excellent rapport with the faculty as they are amicable and approachable. In the “Engineering Sciences” department, the student-teacher bond is uniqueand appreciable. Apart from academics, students are also encouraged to participate in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. In the beginning of the semester, the induction programme is organized, which provides a plethora of extracurricular and co-curricular activities to students in which they can participate throughout the semester. Yoga, games, creative arts, motivational sessions are organized to train the students in coping up with stressful situations and facing the future challenges of industry and life in general.
The department has around 15 classrooms and 6 laboratories housed on ground, first and second floors. The classrooms are soundproof, spacious with high tech facilities like smart boards and LCDs, which initiate interactive learning. Laboratories are well equipped with latest instruments, apparatus and software. All basic and modern amenities are provided to students and faculty, to make the department a place conducive for teaching, learning and research. The overall ambience is eco-friendly and exudes hope, positivity and well-being.
