OROFACIAL PAIN A SPECIALTY WORTH UNDERSTANDING

The college auditorium was abuzz with much excitement as the students and the staff were eagerly waiting for the lecture to begin which was hosted by the Scientific Committee in association with the Amaryllis Committee on “Orofacial Pain : The 12th Dental Specialty” and Mentorship for USA Career on 6th of April, 2023.

The esteemed speaker for this scientific session was Dr. Davis C. Thomas, BDS, DDS, MSD, MSc Med, MSc. He is an Orofacial Pain Dentist practising all aspects of dentistry, with special focus in the treatment of Craniomandibular Disorders and Oro-Facial Pain conditions and dental treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea. He was accompanied by his mentee Dr. Ridhima R. Surve who is also a Fellow in Orofacial Pain and Dental Sleep Medicine. In his talk, Dr. David Thomas emphasised on why dentists need to understand the importance of orofacial pain and the factors influencing it.

The whole session was an interactive one as the topic was very interesting and eye-catching for everyone! The highlight of the day were the cases that Dr. David Thomas showed everyone along with the detailed diagnosis and treatment plan. The event ended with a doubt solving session and followed by a vote of thanks by the Scientific Committee.
