The School of Occupational Therapy has been established under the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) for Bachelors of Occupational Therapy (BOT) program, under the astute vision and guidance of Padmashree D. Y. Patil Sir and is continued under the leadership of Dr. Vijay D. Y. Patil, since 2001 i.e., for more than 24 successful years. The School of Occupational Therapy is functioning under the ambit of D. Y. Patil Deemed to be University since the year 2013-2014.

 

The School of Occupational Therapy offers excellent undergraduate training and the students have awarded BOT degree at the end of the rigorous 4.6 years degree program. It has an intake of 100 seats. It is the only private deemed university offering the graduate BOT program in the state of Maharashtra. At the school of Occupational Therapy, the students receive evidence-based knowledge, real world clinical practice and develop excellent skills to practice as an independent practitioner of Occupational Therapy. They are also equipped to advance their education and undertake masters’ studies in India and as well as abroad.

 

Alumni of the D Y Patil Deemed to be university School of Occupation Therapy are to be found in the different parts of world as well as all over India holding prestigious positions which bring fame and glory to the School of Occupation Therapy. The School of Occupation Therapy has revised the graduate program based on NEP and has implemented the semester pattern CBCS (Choice based credit System) from 2024-2025. It is poised to start the Master’s program from the year 2025-2026 and will offer specialization in three areas namely Masters in Occupational Therapy (Developmental Disabilities), Masters in Occupational Therapy (Neurosciences) and Masters in Occupational Therapy (Musculoskeletal Sciences).

 

The school is also preparing to offer interdisciplinary PhD programs in liaison with the School of Medicine and Directorate of Research under D. Y. Patil Deemed to be University.
