Internships at School of Public Health
The Internships at the School of Public Health, are designed to connect academic learning with real world practice in the discipline of Public Health, Public Policy and Environment& Sustainability. The school has forged collaborations with various government agencies, Civil Society Organisations, Research Institutes and private organisations to provide meaningful exposure to students spread across all the three disciplines. Internships are undertaken for a minimum of two months durations. The process begins with an orientation session where students are briefed on objectives, professional ethics, documentation requirements and assessment criteria. Students are then matched according to their skill sets and area of interest to various organisations which are formally connected to and approved by the internship coordinator. Each student is assigned a faculty supervisor and a site supervisor to ensure continuous guidance and monitoring. Evaluation of the internship is conducted through supervisor feedback, progress reports, submission of final internship report, and an oral presentation.

Career and Placement Cell
The Career and Placement (CAP) Cell at the School of Public Health supports students in transitioning from the academic environment to professional roles. It acts as a liaison between the school, potential employers and the wider ecosystem of discipline of public health. The CAP Cell plays a significant role in helping the students connect with various research organisations, hospitals, civil society organisations, policy think tanks and international agencies working in the disciplines of public health, public policy and environment. Apart from technical skills being provided in these major disciplines by the faculty at the school, the CAP ensures that students are equipped with additional skills such as effective communication, leadership, problem solving and cultural sensitivity. By developing these soft skills, the school ensures that students earning a degree from the school can better advocate for improved public health outcomes, environmental protection and effective policy solutions.
The CAP Cell works through various mechanisms to facilitate student development and make them placement ready. Some of these mechanisms being followed in the School of Public Health are:
- Career guidance: Providing counselling on various career pathways in the programs being offered at the school
- Forging partnerships through MoUs with various national and international organisations
- Skill Development: Organises workplace readiness programs and workshop
- Facilitation of internships: Tailors internships to the skill sets and interest of individual students and connects them with various organisations relevant to the discipline
- Alumni engagement: Networks with alumni for mentoring and referrals
- Dissemination of information: Shares updates on scholarships, fellowships and job openings with the students
