To mark the celebration of World Environment Day at the DYPU on 5th June 2024 a Panel Discussion on the theme of Land Restoration Desertification and Drought Resilience was organized by DCAL in collaboration with the School of Public Health, School of Architecture, School of Law at the DYPU. The Panel Members included well-known personalities from academia, environmentalists, actors and United Nations agencies.
The session was centred on the Implementation of the World Health Organisation’s Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) in India. The session gave a comprehensive overview of the various articles which have been listed under the FCTC and how much has India been able to implement the same.
Prof. Poobalan started the talk by discussing her professional journey and transition from a Clinician to becoming a Professor of Public Health at University of Aberdeen, UK. The objective of the talk was to understand the feasibility of improving diabetes care pathways in rural Vellore.
International Film Festival on the theme ‘Gender, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion’ was organised in collaboration with Men against Violence and Abuse. The objective of the film festival was to sensitize the participants on the areas of gender equity, diversity and inclusion using films as the medium of instruction.
The DYPU School of Public Health, in collaboration with the Consortium Against Rabies, proudly hosted its 11th National Conference. This was two-day national conference on December 8th and 9th, 2023, held at the Centre of Excellence, DYPU campus in Navi Mumbai. The conference served as a platform for empowering minds, fostering collaborations, and advancing the shared vision of a Rabies-free India.

Her session was centered on harnessing the immense potential for social impact within the realm of public health.
The School of Public Health proudly ushered in its 4th Batch of Master of Public Health (MPH) students during the orientation ceremony held on October 4th, 2023. The event was graced by the presence of our Chief Guest, Dr. Deepak Saxena, the Director of the Indian Institute of Public Health, Gandhinagar. Dr Saxena shared invaluable insights, offering clarity to the newcomers embarking on their journey in the field of public health.
The School of Public Health recently organized a comprehensive workshop on Qualitative Research Methods for its MPH students, held from the 20th to the 26th of June 2023.
Fio Vialard, a first-year Master’s student specializing in Epidemiology in the Pant Pai lab at McGill University, Canada, has been actively engaged in pioneering research focused on the development of risk score models for sexually transmitted and Blood-borne infections (STBBIs). Fio visited the D Y Patil University campus to share their invaluable insights and experiences with both faculty and students.
The D Y Patil School of Public Health commemorated its second anniversary on March 18, 2023. In celebration of this milestone, the School collaborated with the Indian Institute of Public Health, Gandhinagar, to host a workshop on ‘Innovations in Public Health
Dr. Subhadra Menon, Professor and Consultant in Global Public Health and Development, is an adjunct faculty with the school and took a week-long workshop on health promotion and communication. The workshop was packed with lecture series and activities like roleplay, debate, and student presentations.
Mrs. Sangeetha Nikam was the guest speaker to commemorate the “International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women.” She is the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Maharashtra Police Academy. She narrated her experiences as a Police official and the incidents that she witnessed during her lengthy tenure of work. She also shed light on the measures that could be taken to avoid gender-based violence.
