4) Semester IV Thesis
In each semester, with above ideologies, the subject has been further divided in 4 principle categories to help understand the relevance of it with the laid discourse.
They are as follows:
Core :– The Core Unit has the Primary Urban Design or the Master studio format for SEM I, II and III.
The urban design studio is the primary emphasis of first three semesters and comprises of core units, where each unit is essential to conduct and drive the urban design studio. It functions as a Modular system in which each unit works along with the urban studio in reciprocation. The structure so created is to strengthen basics of different practices in Urban Design through Live Scenarios. Each semester the Emphasis of the studio will change in terms of chosen urban design practices.
Theories :– Under theories, the emphasis is on teaching foundational and Advanced theories for students to develop inquiry and skills to tackle basic urban challenges. The latter contributes to teaching organisational frameworks, decision making to analyse the existing framework. Thus, helping students to develop rational thinking, logical decision making, critical thinking and theorising in the realm of Urban Design.
Electives :– This category will give students the power to make their own choices and interact better with the course. The emphasis each year will be different. Students can create their own docket each year as per their interest. The electives will have ideologies depending upon the semester hierarchy. These will mainly fall under categories of Skill enhancement, Allied and Support.
Research :– The emphasis of this category initiates the research and development in urban design course. The units culminate into a Thesis study. This category is a specialisation in itself where students can develop themselves as Urban Researchers and Theorists.
