Programme
Overview

The B.Tech in Computer Science and Business Systems (CSBS) at Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology (RAIT), DY Patil University, Navi Mumbai, is a four-year undergraduate engineering programme designed at the meeting point of computer science and business. The CSBS curriculum is developed by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

Unlike a traditional B.Tech in Computer Science, the B.Tech CSBS goes beyond pure engineering. The programme builds technical depth in computing while also developing the business judgment, ethics, and service orientation that today’s technology-driven companies look for in fresh engineering hires. TCS is actively involved in faculty development and partial teaching support, which keeps the programme close to current industry practice.

The B.Tech Computer Science and Business Systems programme focuses on enhancing the following key attributes among graduating students:

  • Understanding of contemporary technology
  • Understanding of technology abstraction at different levels
  • Knowledge of common business principles
  • Business discipline and service orientation
  • Innovation ability
  • Strong grounding in ethics and life values
  • Degree awarded by D Y Patil Deemed to be University, Navi Mumbai
  • TCS is actively involved in faculty development and partially assists in teaching the programme
  • Curriculum developed by working closely with eminent professionals from industry and academia
  • Students are exposed to emerging technologies and industry-relevant topics, which makes them more aligned with industry standards and improves their employability

Programme
Differentiator

  • Tech CSBS designed by TCS, an industry-academia partnership model
  • TCS is actively involved in faculty development and partially supports teaching the programme
  • Curriculum built with eminent professionals from industry and academia, not engineering theory alone
  • Combines computer science depth with business principles, service orientation, and ethics
  • Four-year B.Tech offered under DY Patil University, a deemed-to-be university
  • Lateral entry route for diploma holders and eligible graduates

TCS Partnership and Industry Co-Design

The B.Tech CSBS at RAIT is  designed by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The partnership goes beyond a name on a brochure. TCS is actively involved in two specific areas of the programme.

  • Faculty development: TCS works with the faculty team on training, content, and current industry practice so what is taught in class stays close to what is happening in industry.

The result is a B.Tech that has industry sensibility built into it from day one, rather than being added on at the end through internships.
